When it comes to famous people I take interest in, the first name that comes to my mind is Steve Jobs. As we all know, he is the co-founder and chief executive officer of Apple Inc.

I got to know him through a speech he delivered at a commencement in Stanford University. I have to say that the speech was very inspiring and impressive, full of wisdom about how to live a life with dignity. His ending sentence in that very speech ‘stay hungry, stay foolish’, has also become my motto about life.

Before he became famous, Jobs experienced many hardships early in his life. His biological mother who was an unwed student, gave him up for adoption. Later, he dropped out of Reed College for his family couldn't afford the expensive tuition fees, and Jobs himself also lost faith in the value of college education. The experience of being poor was not at all romantic, as Jobs recalled. He couldn't afford a dorm room in college, and has been forced to sleep on the floor in one friend’s room. When things got worse, he even tried recycling Coke bottles to earn some money so that he could buy food with.

Speaking of how he became famous, Jobs co-founded Apple with Wozniak in the year 1976 to sell Wozniak's Apple I personal computer. They gained fame and a year later for the success of Apple II, one of the first highly successful mass-produced personal computers in the world. Later in his life, Jobs continued his legend in the field of high technology, unceasingly bringing people dozens of stunning high-tech products, making his way out of millions of competitors, and finally becoming a tech giant no one dares to despise.

As for the reason why I take him as my icon is that, he has the courage to follow his instinct and has great passion for his job. This inspires me because in order to do a great job, we must first learn to love what we do. Besides, his sticking to what he loves no matter how bad things got, also teaches me to never let go of what I truly love.

當(dāng)一談到開銷不大(花費不大)的一次特別的外出，我想說的是我去華山的一次經(jīng)歷。華山在華縣，位于西安的東部。

When it comes to a special day out that didn’t cost too much, well, I would like to talk about a trip I had to the Huashan Mountain, which is located in the Hua County, somewhere in the east of Xi’an.

我記得是在我上大一之前的那個夏天第一次去了那里進行了一日游。一位曾經(jīng)是我爸爸在軍隊的戰(zhàn)友邀請了我們一家去了這個世界聞名的華山。我們早上起得很早，大概五點就驅(qū)車去了那里，然后開始一路爬上去。華山不想其它的山，不止一個山峰，是一個集合體。我們一口氣把所有的山峰都爬了個遍。那天真的是那一年里耗費力氣最多的一天，但是絕對值了!

I remember it was a summer day before my first semester of college in Xi’an that I went there for the first time. A military officer who once worked with my father in the army invited our family to have a one-day trip to this world-renowned scenic spot. We got up extremely early in the morning like 5 pm and drove to the foot of the mountain and began climbing. The mountain wasn’t like the traditional single peak one, it’s actually kind of a combination of many. We climbed all four summits at one go. That’s was probably the most energy-consuming activity during that whole year, but it’s definitely worth it!

Although we were fully prepared for this trip, it seemed none of us felt so confident about every detail of small scenic spots, because there’s quite a lot for you to discover along the way, and we didn’t find any single chance of being bored. When we reached the highest southern summit of the mountain, we felt a kind of sense of achievement.

我們都覺得這次旅行既健康又經(jīng)濟實惠。我們上下加起來包括買門票和飲料花了不超過三百塊錢而且還獲得了比去健身房花300塊會員費得到的鍛煉還多。

We all felt this was a really healthy and money-saving trip. Because we just spend no more than 300 RMB for beverages and the entrance tickets during the whole trip. And we got more fitness exercises compared to those who hit the gym with more than 300 RMB membership fees.

有人說有時候去這些山都比較的危險。但是我想說的是我們一生就活一次，為什么不能去嘗試一下呢?而且也沒有那么危險，你說是不是呢?

Someone said that it’s sometimes dangerous to go to those huge mountains, but I have to say that we only live a life for once, why not try it? Basically, it’s not that risky, right?

Ok, well I suppose one of the most important letters I’ve received was an offer letter from a university I applied to – Leeds University, to be precise – so that’s what I think I’ll talk about.

And as for who the letter was from, well, I can't quite remember the name of the actual person who wrote it, I’m afraid, but if I’m not mistaken, it was sent by the university admissions office, who I guess are responsible for handling such matters.

Anyway, regarding what the letter was about, well basically, it was just informing me that I had been accepted onto their Master’s program in Finance, so it was really great news for me, because this was the course that I most wanted to study, and out of all the various universities that I applied to, Leeds was definitely top of my list, as it was the one that most appealed to me, in terms of both the course content and social life.

So, as you can imagine, I was over the moon after receiving the offer. I mean, it felt like all the years of hard work I’ve put into my studies seemed to have finally paid off, so it was like a dream come true for me, it really was.

And finally then, with regard to why this letter was important, well, I think it goes without saying that it was extremely important, because essentially, it means that I’m gonna be able to study abroad, which I’m sure will have a huge impact on my future career, as it will hopefully enable me to apply for jobs which I wouldn’t have otherwise been considered for.

And as well as this, I reckon that studying abroad will help me become more mature and independent, which I’ve noticed has happened with a few of my friends who have spent some time abroad, and I’m sure this’ll have a positive effect on my life in general.

So it’s a big opportunity for me, and I’m really looking forward to it!

It is really a matter of courage indeed to rule a nation during a bloody war and provide the right directives, working amid internal crisis and more. He also supervised and set strategies during the war so that the losses are minimal. All of his attempts were humane and he dreamt of a modern America. He emancipated the slavery in the Thirteenth Amendment to the Constitution for the USA. In fact, this the greatest tasks he has ever done and for this reason, a majority of the US citizens like me hail him.
