在含有虛擬條件句的復(fù)合句中，主句和從句的謂語都要用虛擬語氣。虛擬條件從句和主句的動詞形式列表如下:

我們重點來看if引導(dǎo)的從句如果是與現(xiàn)在的情況相反這種情況(表格的第一行)，此時條件從句中的動詞統(tǒng)一用對應(yīng)的過去式，主句中的動詞則should/would/could/might+動詞原形這種結(jié)構(gòu)。我們來看兩個單句：

1. 如果沒有這次的新型冠狀病毒病，我們將意識不到堅決不吃野味的重要性。

If there were no COVID-19, we would not realize the importance of not eating bush meat.

2. 動物實驗被取消，人類將沒有辦法測試藥品。

If animal testing were cancelled, man would have no way to test medicine.

Some people say that the best way to improve the public health is by increasing the number of sports facilities. Others, however, say that this would have little effect on public health and that other measures are required. Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.

[解釋說明論證]Advocates of this believe that todays sedentary lifestyle and stressful working conditions mean that physical activity is no longer part of either our work or our leisure time. [虛擬假設(shè)論證] If there were easy-to-reach local sports centres, we would be more likely to make exercise a regular part of our lives, rather than just collapsing in front of a screen every evening. [虛擬假設(shè)論證] The variety of sports that could be offered would cater for all ages, levels of fitness and interests: those with painful memories of PE at school might be happier in the swimming pool than on the football pitch.
