It is now possible for scientists and tourists to travel to remote natural environments, such as the South Pole. Do you think the advantages of this development outweigh the disadvantages?

對(duì)于科學(xué)家和游客來(lái)說(shuō)去一些偏遠(yuǎn)地方比如南極旅游成為了可能。你覺(jué)得利是不是大于弊?

思路解析

這是一道利弊類(lèi)大作文，題目對(duì)于 remote natural environments 給了一個(gè)補(bǔ)充 the South Pole 。因此我們可以就極地旅游來(lái)探討其利弊。

首先來(lái)看好處，有兩方面。

一是這能帶動(dòng)相關(guān)旅游業(yè)的發(fā)展。極地旅游是沒(méi)辦法一個(gè)人獨(dú)自前往的。因此大概率會(huì)涉及到豪華游輪、直升機(jī)、酒店住宿等諸多項(xiàng)目，而且價(jià)格不低。因此能刺激相關(guān)的旅游經(jīng)濟(jì)的發(fā)展，帶動(dòng)相關(guān)產(chǎn)業(yè)的就業(yè)。同時(shí)，極地旅游所能看到的風(fēng)景、帶給人的體驗(yàn)也是人們?cè)谌粘Ｉ钪邢硎懿坏降摹?/p>

二是對(duì)于科學(xué)家來(lái)說(shuō)，極地有著極大的科考價(jià)值?？茖W(xué)家們可以在極地展開(kāi)對(duì)于氣象、冰川、地質(zhì)、海洋、生物等方面的科學(xué)研究，并且這些研究是在別的地方難以替代的，也因此諸多國(guó)家在極地專(zhuān)門(mén)設(shè)立了科考站。

其次來(lái)看壞處，極地旅游的壞處也非常明顯，就是人為活動(dòng)所帶來(lái)的的環(huán)境破壞，包括交通工具所帶來(lái)的燃油泄露、空氣污染、污水和垃圾的排放等等，對(duì)于當(dāng)?shù)厣鷳B(tài)都會(huì)造成嚴(yán)重的破壞。因此，制定環(huán)保的措施，減少對(duì)于環(huán)境的破壞是非常必要的。

Prompted by breakthrough of technology, including transportation and telecommunication, the prosperity of tourism has created colossal economic rewards, and this tendency has no sign to cease its steps. Recently, the antenna of this industry has extended into remote areas, such as the poles. However, brought by the activities of scientists and tourists, those natural habitats and ecosystem have been encroached and invaded. So, in my opinion, the demerits outstrip the merits.

It is undeniable that this kind of tourism, for example the polar cruising which has been prevailing for the recent years have stimulate the tourism industry. Guests are increasingly hopping aboard the ships and expect a first-class experience along with elegant menus, comfortable rooms and additional activities such as diving during the cruise. This makes the ship become bigger to accommodate rising demand and makes cruise more profitable.

However, with the increasing number of tourists visiting those places yearly, the cruise also raises the chance of a catastrophe such as oil spill or a sewage leak that would damage the pristine polar environment. This fragile environment is prone to be damaged when human activities influence the local ecosystem. For example, the throwaway products and wasted living material which are tossed away may influence the local ocean ecosystem when ships traverse the Arctic Ocean. Even worse, increased human activity in the Arctic may affect the climate change and inevitably increase the temperature which leads to the melting glaciers and iceberg.

As conclusion, it is worried that human activity is threatening the fragile environment in polar areas and other remote areas which are vulnerable. It is a matter of time, not a matter of if. So, the only thing we can do is to reduce the influence on receding ice and rising sea level and protect the pristine area of our planet.
