范文
Well I should first say that due to my parents’ hospitality, we often have visitors at our home. And on special occasions like a birthday party or so, even a house big as ours can get really crowded.
One such occasion I remember was my older sister’s wedding ceremony 2 years ago. The ceremony was arranged in our own house and we had been tremendously busy for it. On that day, over 200 people came, and among them was one special guest named John Kors, father of the bridegroom’s senior brother and also a well-known figure in town. Mr. Kors actually, is a famous writer and the minute he arrived at the scene, many of us recognized him immediately.
I greeted Mr. Kors well and led him to sit on a comfortable couch. Since I was at the same time, busy with a lot of other stuff, I only got to come to Mr. Kors time to time to see if he needed anything. Later, I asked him what type of food he would prefer to have and led him to the dining place. I had a short and delightful conversation with him down there, and told him that I have read some of his books and really liked those stories. He smiled back at me gently, asking me how I thought of his newly published book, ‘Shadows and Smiles’. I knew immediately that he was trying to figure out if I had really appreciated his works or was I just telling him so to please him. So, I told him a couple of things I like and dislike about his new book, and found him smiling. In the evening, right before Mr. Kors’s departure, I brought a book written by him and asked him if he would be kind enough to sign me an autograph. He willingly signed it on the cover page and wrote me a few complementary words.
My feelings on Mr. Kors’s visit to our house was in a word, exciting. I guess for most people, meeting a famous person and having a conversation with him/her is indeed something delightful. I wish I had more time to spend with him so that I could be able to know more about this person.
Describe an article that you read from a magazine or from the Internet about healthy life.
You should say:
when you read it
where you read it
what it is about
and if you agree with this opinion of the article.
解析:首先當(dāng)考生拿到這樣一個(gè)題目的時(shí)候,一定要明確part2話題的關(guān)鍵詞,和修飾語是什么,從題干里我們可以看出,分別是:an article, 以及healthy life, 才從哪里看到這篇文章,方式已經(jīng)確定了,是from a magazine or from the Internet,所以請(qǐng)大家審題一定要仔細(xì)。這個(gè)話題比較新,是物品類話題中比較生僻的一個(gè)考題,所以希望考生引起足夠的重視,最好是能夠做一些前期儲(chǔ)備,比如你想說的這篇文章具體談?wù)摿耸裁?,是在哪本雜志,或是哪個(gè)網(wǎng)站看到的,這個(gè)題目里面給出的4個(gè)線索,分別是:when/where you read it, what it is about, and if you agree with this opinion of the article.其中比較好展開的應(yīng)該是what it is about,談?wù)撍膬?nèi)容,以及你的個(gè)人感受,你同意還是不同意,給出原因。那么在選材的時(shí)候,建議同學(xué)選和自己生活息息相關(guān)的,比如說飲食,healthy food, 10 secrets about healthy food; 或者是fitness, 5 tips for you to keep fit等等。
Well, I have read an article concerning about how to get sun protection in summer. I browsed it on Reader’s Digest online when I stayed at home for summer vocation several weeks ago. You know, there is a health column on its homepage, which is quite useful, and I do think getting to know something about how to avoid sunburn as well as skin damage is necessary in summer, so I looked at that article very carefully. In this article, it shares common sunscreen mistakes people make in daily life, and then it provides some tips to protect our skin from skin cancer and signs of aging. Actually, there are more than 5 sunscreen mistakes listed on the article, however, I can’t remember it all. But, one thing I would not forget is that it mentions we have always believed that applying a high SPF means you can spend more time in the sun without getting sunburn. Actually, that’s not really the case. Coating yourself in SPF 50 doesn’t mean that you can stay in the sun for longer. It suggests that we’d better reapply the lotion for at least every two hours.Health is strong related to everyone’s wellbeing and I totally agree with the opinions mentioned in the text. To be honest, I’m pretty gratitude for knowing the right way to protect my skin, if that’s not too late, as I used to believe that once I had put on sunscreen, then my face wouldn’t get damaged. So, I’d say that article really help me lead a healthier life.
1. Are there many people living near you?
If yes:
Yeah there are, because I live in quite a residential area, and so most of the buildings around my home are apartment blocks.
If no:
No, I wouldn’t say there are, because I mean, a lot of the flats where I live are empty, which is probably due to the fact that most of the people who bought them didn’t actually plan on moving in, but instead bought them simply as an investment. So yeah, it’s a pretty quiet neighbourhood.
2. Do you know all your neighbours?
Answer A:
Well, I wouldn’t say I know all them, but I know a fair few, and that’s mainly because I spend quite a lot of time in gardens of my apartment complex, which is how I got to know them.
Answer B:
No not really, because my neighbours tend to keep (pretty much) to themselves. You know, I mean, if I happen to see them, we might say hi to each other, but that’s about it, and then they’ll just continue with doing whatever it is they’re doing.
3. When do you see your neighbours?
I guess the time when I mostly see them is when I’m in the lift of my apartment block. You know, that’s pretty much the only time I come into contact with them, because I don’t really know them all that well, so I’ve neverbeen round to any of their homes or anything like that.
4. How often do you see your neighbours?
Well I guess it depends, because I mean, during term time, I don’t see them at all, cos I’m away at university,. but during the holidays, when I’m back home, I guess I probably see them about three or four times a week, because I’m quite good friends with a few of them.
5. Do you think it’s important to know your neighbours?
If yes:
Yeah, I suppose it is, because I think it helps create a good community spirit if we know our neighbours. In other words, it kind of gives the neighbourhood a nice, friendly feel, instead of a cold, unwelcoming one, if you know what I mean!
If no:
No I wouldn’t really say it is, because for me I think friends and family are enough. And I mean, in my case I don’t spend nearly enough time with my family as it is, so I can’t really see the need to get to know my neighbours as well. And this probably goes for a lot of people, not just me.
Do you prefer to study in a quiet environment or an environment with some sounds?
Well, I guess on the whole I prefer to study in a quiet environment, the main reason being that I find it easier to concentrate, because noises or sounds tend to distract me. So in other words, I tend to get more work done when I can't hear anything around me. But saying that, I do occasionally like to listen to some music while I'm studying, because it can make it a little bit more enjoyable.
Does your school have any quiet places for studying?
Yeah, I guess I'm quite lucky in this respect, because there's a pretty big library on our campus with loads of desks for studying, and I'm always able to get quite a lot of work done there, as it's really nice and quiet.
What natural sound do you like the most?
That's an interesting question, and I'm not really that sure to be honest with you, but I guess I would probably say the natural sound I like most is that of waves hitting the seashore, because it's just really soothing, if you know what I mean. And it's a sound I only really get to hear when I'm on holiday, so I also probably associate it with being on holiday, which would be another reason why I like it so much!
Are there any sounds that you dislike?
Yeah, for sure! I mean, firstly, I really can't stand the sound of drilling, simply because it's just such a loud and unpleasant noise, so that would definitely be at the top of my list. And I guess the next one would be the sound of cars hooting, mainly because I hear it all the time where I live, and so it gets quite irritating after a while, especially when I'm trying to concentrate on something.
Are you ever bothered by noise?
Yeah, for sure, especially when I'm trying to get to sleep, you know, if there's a dog barking or something, it can really be quite maddening, but during the day I'd say I can put up with pretty much most noise, unless, of course, the noise is really loud and relentless, like if there's construction or renovation work going on around me.
